Dear Airedale Terrier Friend and Enthusiast (known to the smitten as Airedalers). We would like to welcome you to the NATA web site and invite you to become a member of the National Airedale Terrier Association (NATA), the only breed club which serves the interests of Airedalers throughout the United Kingdom and in many nooks and crannies of the world.

The National Airedale Terrier Association was formed in 1928, with J.N. Tinker Esq., as its first Hon.Secretary, and held its first show, a Championship Show, in London that year. NATA is registered with the Kennel Club and is represented on the Airedale Terrier Breed Council.

In recent years the Association has held its Championship Show in April and its Open Show in September. In recent years a trimming class has been held prior to the Open Show which caters for both show and pet Airedalers. Usually a breed or health seminar is held during each year.

Please do come along and support our shows, meet other Airedale Terrier owners and breeders and enjoy a day ‘talking Airedale’. Our Committee will be more than happy to help with any questions you may have.

From time to time some Airedale Terriers find themselves in need of assistance. The NATA, through Sylvia Hicks our Rescue Officer tries to arrange a new home for all such cases, which come to our notice. (See our ‘Rescue’ page for more details)

Since 1973 NATA have published a Year Book, this includes Association business, judges’ lists, winners of Challenge Certificates and all the Championship Show results, pedigrees of Airedales gaining the title of Champion in the UK with photographs if available. There is news from other breed clubs, both in the UK and overseas, articles and a large advertising section full of pictures and results from individual kennels again both in the UK and overseas. The Standard of the breed and a list of NATA members are also included. This publication, which plays an important role in the world-wide promotion of the Airedale Terrier is published in March of each year (bearing the title of the previous year). (See the year book page for full details)

The Association is a member of Justice for Dogs, an organisation that offers free legal advice with any problems relating to dogs or canine related activities. This help is available for all fully paid-up members of NATA. For further information contact the Hon. Secretary of NATA.

Membership of NATA is open to all; benefits include reduced show entry fees, year book advertising costs and only members are allowed to hold the annual show trophies they win. (See Membership page for full details and application forms)

The Association Rules are published in the Year Book or are available on request from the Hon. Secretary.
